SUP Day - Karewa Island
- Duration: 6 Hours (approx.)
- Location: Tauranga, Bay of Plenty
Situated off the coast of Mt Maunganui, this rocky island is a wildlife sanctuary, home to the native Tuatara lizard.
We head out on the Bay Explorer on a scenic trip in search of our local marine life. Who knows what we'll see - maybe dolphins, whales, orca, sunfish, leatherback turtles.
After a short cruise, we head to Karewa Island where we park up, offload our paddle boards and circumnavigate approx. 2.8kms of the island - an easy slow cruise around, taking in the island's visual treasures. We also have the opportunity to snorkel and swim before we are back on the Bay Explorer after our wee adventure to enjoy a barbecue and refreshments.
Back on land, you will have a camera full of memories to look back on.
IMPORTANT:
This is not a beginner level SUP trip. SUP participants must be competent paddling on flat water. There will be no lesson. Instructors cannot give one-on-one assistance, unless in emergency. If you are considered incompetent for the SUP activity, you will not be able to participate. SUP activities are limited to those aged 16 years and over.
But...You are most welcome to join us without participating in the SUP activity. There is no discount for not participating.
