Located in the Bay of Plenty, Mount Maunganui on the end of the coastline, surrounded by open water. Tucked away in Tauranga Harbour, is a small area called Pilot Bay! That's where our Cultural Walk of Mount Maunganui begins.
Our guided walks of Mount Maunganui are perfect for those wanting to connect with local māori and explore the coastal/communal landscapes our area has to offer. We share kōrero about our cultural history and the environmental significance of Mauao, Mount Maunganui.
We also explore the surrounding areas to sight a giant pōhutukawa tree and visit the local community gardens before veering off to the coastline to visit a smaller mountain (Hopukiore, Mount Drury) and an island just off the mount main beach (Moturiki, Leisure Island).
Come and connect with local māori guides and explore the picturesque landscapes our town has to offer!

Important Information Before Booking.
- A moderate level of fitness is required to participate. The walk itself is 90 minutes and approximately 3km on concrete pathways AND walking on sand and undulating gravel track of the connected island.
- Appropriate footwear is required.
- All other information will be provided after confirmation including how to prepare, weather considerations, etc.
- Groups larger than 20, we will be adjusting this experience to suit.
